Gladys Elaine Steuernagel

Gladys Elaine Steuernagel was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Blackduck, Minn., the daughter of Andrew Jackson Paul and Gladys Adell (nee Morehouse) Paul. She was known to family and friends as Elaine. She was united in marriage to Oscar Henry Steuernagel on Aug. 21, 1948. Elaine and Oscar farmed until 1969. She was a long-term employee and retiree of J C Penny in Winona. She and her husband moved to Amery in 1990. They were members of Grace Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, Wis. Elaine passed away peacefully at Golden Age Manor in Amery on Wednesday morning July 20, 2011, at the age of 91 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pauline Jane; son, Gregory Mark; husband, Oscar; brother, Duane Paul; sisters, Dorothy (Donald) Swedberg, Adella (Walter) Schoenwalter, Marjorie (Ralph) Matheny, Margaret (Melfred) Anderson and Emily (Ronald) Lindblad. Survivors include daughters, Paulette Jean (William) Braatz of Amery, Susan Elaine (William) Kehoe-Katula of Oakdale, Minn.; grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Braatz, Ariannah Braatz, and Christopher Kehoe; great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Elaine Braatz; brother-in-law, Ronald Lindblad; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, Wis. There will be a visitation time for the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Lewiston, Minn., at 3:45 p.m. The Williamson-White Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family.
