Asahel was a Pvt. in Civil War, enlisted in Company C 114th Reg. NY Volunteers on Aug 10 1862 and served for the duration of the war.
He was a Baptist minister residing in various places in NY until moving to Greenbush, Sheboygan Co., WI about 1880; to Collins, LaFayette Co, IN in 1882 and to South Wayne, IN in 1889. He was pastoring in Tripoli, IA in 1890-91.
On 19 Apr 1892 he was involved in the Cherokee Strip land rush in Canadian Co., Oklahoma Territory.
He was farming in Okarche, OK until following his sons to Tacoma, WA in the early 1900s.
